HOW - Last Day before the Winter Break

Hands On Wellness (H.O.W.) leadership students put on a fantastic last day of activities for students to participate in. The grade 7 science class hosted mini soccer matches. There were many other incredible activities planned for those days as well. Well done leadership students!

Science 7 Plant Germination Challenge

Students were challenged to research and then germinate a seed or induce vegetative reproduction using a root or leaf clipping over the two week holiday in December.

Grade 8 Dansemon GO! Scavenger Hunt

Students braved the cold to follow compass declinations and walk a specified distance in order to find the next map marker.

Indoor Recess in Action

Over the course of December we have had several very cold days leading up to the holidays. This had led to many occasions when the students were not able to go outside during lunch recess.  Here are pictures of a few of the activities in the grade 7 science class during those times.

Ecology Vocabulary Stories

As an earlier part of our Ecology and Interactions Grade 7 Science Unit, students were asked to create a children's story using science vocabulary from the terms that we had studied, including; symbiosis, mutualism, commensalism, parasitic, adaptation, habitat, etc. Below is only one of many amazingly illustrated works of art that accompanied the stories.

While I was marking these, my oldest children were looking at the pictures and reading the stories that the students had created. The students in grade 7 did a really great job and my kids loved them!
