Being the Teacher
Students focused not only "knowing" a definition, but "understanding" it. They collaborated on deriving a simple definition from a standard one, and providing an example with a visual cue. Students than had the opportunity to teach the rest of the class in groups, what they came up with for their vocabulary words.
Playing the Dansémon GO Orienteering Course
Below are pictures of students finding various 'controls' placed around the school using a compass bearing and map. Some controls were on the map, others were placed at locations that needed to be found using the compass bearings provided.
Students sneak around the school and playground hiding their "Dansemon" animals in a place that is mapped out only by them.

Dansemon GO Orienteering Course Ready to GO
My father, a retired educator, principal and leader in scouting for more than 35 years came to help me set up an orienteering course around the school for the Dansemon GO CTF today. I am very excited for the students to experience it.
The students will need to first learn a few basics using a compass and orienteering on Monday. They will then have the opportunity to play the course on Wednesday.
The following week, students will then set up a course of their own for classmates to play! I may also join in on the action! I can wait to Dansemon GO!

Science Categorization
In Science we categorize, group and organize information, facts, animals, using comparison and observation. In this activity students communicate to agree on how to sort and categorize a mix of "hardware" into a limited number of groups. The results varied based on familiarity with the hardware and the previous experiences of members in each group. Results were fun and interesting.
CTF - Map Making to Scale
Students were challenged to measure hallways and classrooms and other spaces throughout the school and to represent them according to scale. The project came together as a collaboration effort to build one single map of the entire school. This was the result. The scale is 1 m equals 2 cm.
